It is sad to note that in the past few days the Almighty God has been made a part of the political upheaval that Goa has witnessed. The social media is full of posts and comments on the utterance of a particular politician having spoken directly to God who in turn has replied to him. One needs to keep God out of the dirty games politicians play in order to remain in power. Some of the comments appearing on social media are simply absurd. A comment that caught my attention was that of a person asking this particular politician to approach God and ask Him the lucky “matka” number for the day. Those belonging to the Catholic faith would do well to remind themselves of the Bible teaching which says “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name” (Exodus 20:7). It is also the third commandment of the Ten Commandments handed over to Moses by God according to the Bible. Humans have a tendency of saying that it is the call of God whenever they take a decision. When time proves that it was a wrong decision, they blame God. The Almighty God may not have any say in the decision one takes. But humans find it the easy way out to involve God. One should realize that if God can speak to man, so can the devil.
