Alyssa Carson from Louisiana is on a training programme to become an astronaut and has her eyes set on the 2033 Mars One mission.
She has been preparing for this her whole life and has many accomplishments, including being the first person to complete the NASA Passport Program by going to all 14 NASA Visitor Centers.
The 2033 Mars mission aims to establish a human colony on Mars that could one day save the species. But NASA is first carrying out manned moon explorations to test equipment and explore the effects of deep-space on the human body, before committing to the long journey to Mars.
True it has been her avowed wish to be the first human on Mars but why this suicidal mission without hope of return?
It would be prudent if this mission is abandoned by NASA till they find a safe and sure way out.
