Mapusa municipality must be alert to illegal demolitions

The daylight and daring demolition of an unused and innocuous toilet block in Mapusa by some unknown persons, is a serious offence, signalling a dangerous portent of how some people are proving to be a law unto themselves , with total disregard for the law of the land. It is difficult to understand how the demolition work of the toilet block with the use of  an excavator in broad daylight went unnoticed and escaped the attention of the Mapusa municipal authorities and the police, and no formal complaint was filed with the municipality or police. It is time for the Mapusa municipality and police to be more vigilant,  to see that disgruntled elements do not take the law into their hands, given that there are several unused and unsafe structures in Mapusa city that are proving  to be a risk to public life and in need of demolition.
