The Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) at the behest of Ulhas Tuenkar, Chairman of KTC/Navelim MLA has reportedly suspended seven drivers for driving their buses under the influence of alcohol while on duty and for posing a risk to the safety of their passengers and other road-users as well. Well, today, it is not just the KTC drivers but the employees (from fixed staff i.e. drivers, UDC clerks, LDC clerks to TSL peons) of some government departments too who are seen daringly bringing their liquor stock from outside and getting drunk on duty (especially in the afternoons) right in front of their higher officers and dozing in offices. I think that the government should take a very serious note of the above mentioned fact and send its officials to conduct surprise checks not just of some KTC drivers but also the staff of some of its own govt offices and take stringent action against all those who are found drunk on duty by even forcing them to take VRS to really bring discipline in all the govt departments of Goa in future.
