Neglect by authorities turning roads into dumping grounds

The new major district road from Chandor to Margao has transformed into both a garbage dumping ground and a perilous route for road users. 'Deva Marg' along this road is now littered with garbage discarded by citizens each morning as they travel from Quepem via Chandor to Margao. What was once clean fields and forested areas now reeks of waste and decay.

The Public Works Department (PWD) bears responsibility for this mess on the road and its negligent maintenance. Despite being designated as a major district road, there are no signboards to deter garbage dumping or warn of uneven surfaces and speed breakers.

The government, PWD, and local panchayat must demonstrate genuine concern for the well-being of locals. The installation of CCTVs by the panchayat and PWD is necessary, along with stringent enforcement measures, to prevent 'Deva Marg' on the new road from becoming another stinking Sonsodo.
