There has been a lot of noise in both print and social media about the likely candidates for the forthcoming LS polls.It will be interesting to see how the opposition in Goa plays along. Though there have been grand announcements about INDIA alliance taking shape at the national level to take on the BJP-led NDA, however it is the cynosure of all to see who will be the opposition candidates in Goa. As one who believes that a strong joint candidate is the only recipe to take on the BJP candidates in both North and South in the larger interest of democracy, I strongly feel that the Congress in Goa should play the big brotherly role of getting the opposition together and field joint candidates. The opposition parties should stick to the time tested formula in Goa of a candidate belonging to the majority community for North Goa seat and a strong candidate belonging to the minority community for the South Goa seat. However, the views expressed in the social media indicate that the people would prefer new faces from opposition for both the seats.
