Recently, there was an issue raised in the assembly regarding tinted glass vehicles on the road. The ministers objected to tinted glass on the windows of high-end cars used by the sons and daughters of big businessmen and MLAs too. Though there is a standard percentage of window glass for fitting tinted ones, it’s time to replace them with ordinary windows.
In other states like Karnataka, if tinted glass is found, the police authorities immediately remove it by a room to discard the film. The Goa government should come out with such stringent rules to discard tinted glass with film on the windows. Goan police should be given the right to remove the film from the glass and turn it into normal glass. There are cases of kidnapping of school girls in North Goa, where a fourth-grade girl was attempted to be kidnapped in a tinted vehicle.
The use of vehicles should be with normal visible glass, and ministers and their relatives should avoid using tinted glass. In Goa, it is a normal practice that when somebody violating traffic rules is caught by the traffic cell, the driver or owner of the car immediately calls a minister to show his power and influence and gets relief from fine and action. Such activities should be avoided, and all should be treated equally in the eyes of the law and on the roads, especially regarding traffic rules. Only strict actions and punishment can bring the traffic rules back on track.
