Private companies should employ Goans on priority

After a hue and cry was raised by the Goan public on the issue of holding walk-in interviews by some pharma companies namely Indoco Remedies, Escube Pharma and Cipla in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune, these units made a hasty retreat and cancelled the same. This was in utter disregard to the initial agreements done with the govt of Goa to recruit maximum Goans for their workforce as land was given to them at a throwaway price and a long tax holiday on the condition that they will employ Goans. If one stands on the Verna Titan highway for just 30 mins from 08:30  to 09:00 am it is difficult to cross the road with the avalanche of 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers zooming past at breakneck speed proceeding to the Verna Industrial Estate and most of whom are migrant workforce, besides others coming from other directions like Vasco, Cortalim etc and also heavy vehicles moving to and fro throughout the day and night. If only our Goans were recruited with decent wages I am sure there wouldn't be an exodus of Goans  migrating to foreign countries to make a decent living. Imagine a graduate in a non supervisory post in any of these units given a take home salary of just 12 to 14K with no incrememts for years. A labourer demands a daily rate of 900 to 1000 nowadays working for just 6-8 hrs daily.
