With heavy rains lashing Goa and with more to come, the State appears to be sinking with flooding being a major concern in most parts of Goa. The government must launch a boat service in panaji and other places that have faced flooding. It is difficult to ride vehicles on flooded roads that have potholes. Citizens have to wade through water, posing a risk to their lives. This is a common scenario every monsoon.
Some roads become unusable during the rains. The public is enduring untold sufferings due to government’s ignorance. The government is only interested in securing votes; that is why its efforts remain confined to populist tactics. Later the government and the civic authorities, of course, have standard responses ” they blame the overwhelming intensity of rainfall.
