The BJP government rescinded the suspension of Wrestling Federation of India and has informed the Delhi High Court of the same. This means that control of the sports body is back in the hands of BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who is accused of sexually molesting many female wrestlers. The fig leaf given by the Centre was that wrestlers need to participate in the forthcoming Asian Wrestling Championship at Jordan and so a functional body is needed. It is not surprising to note that the government could not find another set of office bearers to man the WFI. Actually it didn't want to anger their MP from Gonda who controls @ 10 assembly seats in the region, what with the UP elections looming in 2027. BBS Singh is facing several sexual harassment cases filed by Olympic medallists Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat, many of his victims have also testified in court but to no avail.
