It is difficult to understand why the Goa Pollution Control Board and the government, including Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, continue to ignore Goan culture and traditions. Despite repeated appeals to extend wedding music timings from 10 pm to 11 pm, the government has failed to respond positively. Ironically, clubs are allowed to play loud music well past midnight without any objection, while the police harass families celebrating weddings. Music, dance and celebration are integral to Goan life and culture. The government must respect these traditions and permit wedding celebrations to continue until 11 pm.
