This is with reference to the news item “Benaulim Congress camp in turmoil” (The Goan Everyday January 23, 2022).
Goa Congress has repeatedly shot itself in the foot on the eve of crucial Goa Assembly Elections 2022. Two talented and hardworking grassroots leaders Royla Fernandes and Gina Pereira have been sidelined by the party.
Congress’s apathy towards loyal leaders from Benaulim leaves a lot to be desired. Those from Benaulim have seen Royla and Gina canvassing for their party going door to door with a clutch of supporters in the scorching heat. Is this how Congress rewards loyalty?
These leaders’ have been preparing the ground for their party’s resounding victory in the upcoming assembly elections since months in advance. The way they have been dropped from the list of ticket aspirants smacks of deeper malaise within the party.
Chidambaram’s lies are exposed. The recommendations of candidates by the block committee is a sham. The candidate observation committee’s observations fall on deaf ears.
Chidambaram and Gundu Rao always act as per their whims and fancies and pay scant regards to the ground realities. Now the Benaulim grassroots Congress worker is totally demoralised, feeling betrayed and left in lurch.
Is this talk of women empowerment by tall leaders just a ruse to get women’s votes?
Rest in peace Naari Shakti. Goa Congress has lost the Goa Assembly Elections 2022. It is a fait accompli.
