Showers of blessings

The unusual  heavy pre-monsoon  showers witnessed in Goa during the month of May must have come as a big relief to the Water Resources Department (WRD) and the PWD after the dwindling water levels  witnessed in all the state reservoirs, during the summer months. As per reports , water levels in all the dams, reached  almost 50% of the overflow mark , even before the start of the south west monsoon.

What more can we expect from nature which has always been kind to Goa, year after year. Yet, Goa continues to reel under severe  drinking water shortage even during the monsoons, for some reason or other. As of now  the PWD seems comfortably ensconced with no need to worry even if one or two pipes burst and spew out lakhs of the precious gift of nature.
