We, the educated and privileged sections of society, often blame the poor and marginalised for voting corrupt leaders into power in exchange for small amounts of money, alcohol or food. But are we truly honest and sincere in our own actions? The answer is a loud no.
Many so-called professionals ” doctors, engineers, professors, lawyers and others ” often act without any principles. Despite drawing good salaries, they engage in corruption whenever the chance arises. What is the point of our education if we have no ethics? What value does it have if we behave in such a low and shameful way?
We walk around proudly as if we are above others, while continuing to take part in dishonest practices. And yet, we have the nerve to point fingers at the poor for accepting a little money in exchange for votes. In reality, those struggling sections of society may still hold more dignity than the educated people who take bribes on every contract or purchase order. It’s time we looked in the mirror before judging others.
