With much fanfare GTDC had inaugurated a parking complex at Benaulim beach 2 years ago which also houses a tourism office and a toilet block. As there are no way finding signboards to the site, the vehicular parking is hardly utilized, instead it has become a hangout for drug addicts, drunkards and other antisocial elements. It is hazardous to even venture out in the area given its isolated location and inadequate lighting. The pay and use toilet block is in a state of disrepair with damp, mildewed walls and broken fixtures inside, practically unusable. To top things up the electrical feeder box is overgrown with creepers and has an unhinged door which exposes the MCBs, control gear and supply cables to rain.This is extremely dangerous as it can lead to chances of short circuit and electrocution. Of what use is setting up such infrastructure if there is zero maintenance of facilities. Will the authorities please take note and set things right before a mishap occurs ?
