Recently I had the opportunity to visit the St Inez cemetery and was aghast to see the state of graves of our dear beloved.
The whole cemetery is in a deplorable condition with grass and shrubs growing wild all over the place.
Near the wall, there is a huge dry tree which is in a very bad condition and if it collapses it will not only damage the compound wall but will also injure passersby on the adjoining footpath.
I am given to understand that the Corporation of the City of Panaji is responsible for the upkeep of this cemetery.
The civic body needs to address this issue urgently lest any calamity befalls innocent people. Hope better sense prevails and quick action is taken.
