The Calangute panchayat has reportedly adopted a resolution to remove a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which had been installed near the Calangute police station on June 3 as the panchayat members claim that the said spot alongside the major district road had been ear-marked for a high-mast lamp.
Well, some pro-Maharashtrawadi elements of late have indeed made it a fashion to install such huge statues in most parts of Goa by giving their own silly justifications.
I think that these self-styled ‘Shiv premis’ or devoted followers should dare to liberate this State from the filth of drugs, prostitution, dance bars, casinos etc if they really want to to follow Shivaji’s true principles cum values instead of blindly going on installing his huge statues everywhere by spending lakhs of rupees and enjoying their own personal kicks in Goa. Hope better sense prevail. Viva Goa.
Viva Goenkaar....
