Sub-standard work on major projects in Goa has become a common feature these days, and a norm to say the least. Human life is in danger as concrete slabs continue to collapse and false ceilings fall, even as roads and footpaths continue to sink even after a short spell of rain.
Not long back, we saw this happen when a portion of the concrete slab of the Kala Academy auditorium collapsed during renovation works. Now, it’s the false ceiling which has given way. Fortunately, we have been spared the collapse of the Atal Sethu after the surfacing of potholes due to improper bonding.
Crores have also been spent on the Smart City works in Panaji, which has only resulted in the devastation of this once beautiful city. What then is the solution to this vexed problem, if the Goa government only stands mute testimony? Someone has to be held responsible and punished.
