This grand old party will have to reinvent

When the 2017 Assembly elections were held in Goa, the Congress had put up a good show by emerging as the single-largest party with 17 seats in the 40-member House, but it failed to form a government. Once BJP’s Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis had said, “The Congress has been reduced to a rickshaw party with three wheels, and soon it will turn into a bicycle party with only two.” There is a serious leadership crisis in Congress. It has become a sinking ship and its leaders are leaving it as soon as they get a chance. If loyalists leave like this, the others need to think. It’s a party that has no leadership at the Centre or the state. Lack of good leaders, no support for good governance has been the key factors why Congress is losing ground in India. The grand old party with a good past, alas, seems to have no future. Unless the Congress learns a lesson and does radical reform to rediscover and reclaim its nationalist moorings, the party will sink even further.
