Work on Christmas day circular kicks up row

PANAJI
A circular issued to staff of the North Goa Collectorate related to deploying some of them on Christmas day for activities related to observing “Good Governance Week” as instructed by the Central government has kicked up a row.

The circular issued by Additional Collector-II Mamu Hage, IAS, instructs bureaucrats to “deploy staff” to service delivery kiosks, desks and rooms. On Christmas Day, the “Good Governance Week” related activities will be held at the North Goa Collectorate.

Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat slammed the move and demanded that it be immediately withdrawn.

“Most insensitive @BJP4Goa Govt. stopped HBA Scheme for its employees during the peak of Covid pandemic. The harassment continues till date by depriving the Govt. Staff to be with their families during festival. I demand @goacm’s intervention to call off the propaganda activity,” Kamat tweeted.

While Christmas Day is the last day of the “Good Governance Week” it was earlier in the week observed at the Deputy Collector/Mamlatdar offices in Bicholim, Bardez, Pernem, Tiswadi and Sattari.
