Time of essence to stop illegal activities quickly

Exposing a massive hill cutting activity in the village, the locals of Wadi Talaulim and Borim on Sunday prompted the Flying Squad from South Goa Collectorate, Ponda police and bomb disposal squad team to conduct a joint raid and seized around 672 gelatin sticks, 30 kg of ammonia urea powder and wires. Three earthmovers and a truck were also attached during the raid. According to locals no permission was obtained by the party involved in the hill cutting activity. It is learnt that the impact caused jolts to a temple situated in nearby Borim village. It must be said that time is of essence when any illegal activities need to be halted.   Necessary action should have been taken by the locals just when the activity commenced. It is pertinent to note that in the case of the bungalow coming up at Old Goa, the protest against the alleged illegal activity started only when the structure had come up. Protests against any illegal activities need to be instant in order to get a positive result.
