Dayanand Bandodkar road has been recently renovated with fresh asphalt all along from Miramar to Panaji. The CCP and PWD directed their contractor of BCPL to have a divider by raising about half a metre height on a concrete slab as at the bottom a cable will be running for electricity connection for their electric poles. I was told by this project contractor that a steel frame having height of nearly 3 x 2 metres will be fitted all along these dividers permanently, but there seem to be repercussions on safety of vehicles travelling especially at nights.
On Monday, I happened to travel from Dona Paula to Panjim on this road late evening by scooter. I saw vehicles plying at high speed with high beam lights on without observing speed limits. The traffic department must stipulate exclusive lower dim lights for vehicles travelling at night on Dayanand Bandodkar road and those who are switching full lights should be issued challans. The RTO should see that the roads have proper illumination and must have signboards having speed limits and cameras at prominent places.
