Benaulim in South Goa has many drains which have no cover or are overgrown with weeds. It is difficult for drivers of vehicles to spot or maneuver around them on the narrow village roads especially at night.
Accidents take place frequently, some very serious involving four wheelers. The authorities should arrange for the drains to be cleaned and covers installed to prevent mishaps. As it is Goa has the dubious distinction of having the worst vehicular accident fatality rates in India.
