The violent clashes which took place on Wednesday at Bhumika Temple, Poriem between two rival Mahajan groups, namely Majik and Gaonkar communities during the annual Kalotsav festival due to a dispute over ritual rights and in which over 50 individuals were injured despite the presence of law enforcement were very unfortunate. Now, where were the BJP politicians and leaders of all the non-Goan right wing organisations who otherwise are well known for immediately rushing and coming on roads to create enmity between Goans on religious lines and creating a ruckus over Shivaji statues, Catholic priests sermons, etc? I think that the BJP politicians and self-styled 'leaders' of all non-Goan right wing organisations have clearly exposed themselves and shown how much they really care for Hindu unity in the state by deliberately not intervening and bringing truce between the two rival factions on Wednesday itself at Bhumika Temple, Poriem. Shame on them. It seems that God alone can save Goa from turning into another lawless state in the name of religion.
