This is with reference to the news item, ‘Verna waste plant shows the way...’ (The Goan Everyday May 21, 2022). Garbage management is indeed a herculean task before mankind. I mean imagine the amount of waste we humans generate and then we are at our wit’s end not knowing what to do with all that garbage. The authorities, therefore, need to be commended for the proposed Integrated Solid Waste Management facility by the Goa Waste Management Corporation. The new facility not only promises to tackle waste efficiently but will also provide energy to industries. Without wading into controversy about the location of the project or the opposition or the environmental clearance, if all their grandiose plans are true, this plant promises to be a game-changer for waste management. In the meanwhile, we as responsible citizens of the world, ought to do our bit by reducing waste and reuse, recycle whatever we can. The life of our planet and our own lives are at stake!
