It is surprising and disheartening to see old politicians, rejected repeatedly by the people of Goa, still clamouring for election tickets or trying to contest as independent candidates. The voters have clearly expressed their desire for change. As the saying goes, a king who has lost the war cannot win again. Goans are tired of “old uncles” — leaders whose health is failing, some even incapacitated, and whose personal conduct has raised serious questions. It is time to stop these repeated contests by the same faces who have failed to deliver. Moreover, criminals, rapists, and uneducated candidates should never be given tickets. Their presence only threatens to turn Goa into a hub of crime and corruption. The people of Goa want fresh, energetic, and honest leaders who can truly represent their interests and bring progress. It is time for the political parties to listen and prioritize new faces over tired old politicians. Requesting children on the last day of the year to make an effigy (Oldman) of the aged politicians with their face masks and burn them at end of the year.
