If we review the period from 2021 to 2026 in the country, it is seen that 17,141 government schools have been closed in the country. During this period, the rate of closure of government schools in Maharashtra was 1,068. However, private schools are increasing rapidly from 2014 to 2024. During this period, the number of private schools has increased from 2.88 lakh to 3.39 lakh. Government schools are closing due to the unrealistic importance of English education. In fact, if education is given in the mother tongue, students understand it quickly. But many government schools are performing better than private schools with many initiatives. Many Zilla Parishad schools in Pune district of Maharashtra are implementing new initiatives. Therefore, there is literally a queue of students for admission there. In government schools, books, uniforms, notebooks, etc. are given to the students free of cost. Many activities are implemented. Many literary figures and writers of Maharashtra have grown up in government schools. The government should equip government schools with new facilities. They should be given maximum encouragement and support. Only then will government schools survive.
