KTCL buses remain lifeline connecting remote areas

The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) recently celebrated its 46th anniversary in Panaji, honoring the legacy of GDX 1—the first Kadamba bus launched in 1980. It is commendable that KTCL plans to retire 280 older buses by 2027 and introduce over 100 new electric buses, reflecting a positive step towards modernization and sustainability. KTCL remains the lifeline connecting remote areas of Goa, serving the public reliably through all seasons, irrespective of profit or loss. Unlike private operators, KTCL has always maintained transparent ticketing and offers various concessions for students and senior citizens. However, unlike other states, Goa still lacks free bus services for women, which should be considered. While the KTCL main bus stands are yet to receive promised modern upgrades, the corporation’s dedication to public service deserves appreciation. Congratulations to KTCL and the government of Goa for their continued support.
