The coastal villages of Goa are drowning in a sea of garbage, but Benaulim seems to be specially affected. There is one particular spot on the beach road where the trash pile seems to be constantly expanding. During monsoons, the area stinks to high heavens and is problematic for pedestrians. Moreover, dogs scatter the waste all around while foraging for food in the pile. Representations have been made in this regard to the local MLA as also to a local wannabe political leader, but nothing seems to change on the ground; the panchayat also seems to be in deep slumber. It will be worth installing a CCTV camera here to nab the culprits and penalise them.
