The police force should be fair with all citizens, however it's very disappointing to know that in India and Goa particularly, the police are used by ministers, to protect various lobbies/entities including Railways, real estate, coal and harass/intimidate even peaceful protestors. In Goa for instance this is becoming worse with the current BJP government. Ruling party supporters are given all liberties to protest on roads, block traffic, vandalise property, protest at Azad/Lohia Maidan without any fear versus those critical of the government. Also who gave the "authority" to the Goa BJP Ministers and their organisations to call people anti-nationals and harass them with police action, particularly when these people are not even convicted by the courts? Hope the BJP government changes course with its authoritarian/intimidating/harassing governance sooner than later. If history teaches us anything, it is that such political behaviour normally has repercussions for the oppressors.
