It is not the peaceful Quit India Movement alone that forced the British to leave India; it was the fear that they were vastly outnumbered and that, if the population turned against them, they would not leave this land alive that was the reason they decided to leave. To give no credit to the freedom fighters who put the fear of God into the British would be to do a great disservice to their sacrifices.
Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it, as the Harvard Professor of Philosophy George Santayana said in 1905. The BJP would be well advised to keep this in mind. The tide will turn and, most likely, it will start somewhere in Bihar or UP, and not at Jantar Mantar. For all you know, the tide might already be turning, for no youth other than those from Bihar and UP are as badly affected by India’s jobless growth as they are.
