Yoga in India is an age-old practice that is gaining attention worldwide. It has undergone tests in space through astronaut Rakesh Sharma. Publicising it through highest authority in India has drawn focussed attention. What Indians need is clean water, food, medicines and air free of pollution. They also need housing for poor, uninterrupted electricity, broad roads that prevent accidents and employment opportunity both for educated and less educated. Fad of yoga alone cannot ensure happy healthy life. Making it compulsory under official dictats as panacea for all evils is abhorrent and does not make compliance voluntary.
