Chinese actor Jackie Chan was recently conferred with an honorary Oscar after years of working in the Hollywood film industry and starring in almost 200 films so far. Here's a look at a few other Asian actors that are dominating the Hollywood scene

Archie Panjabi

Best known for her role as Kalinda Sharma on the hit TV show The Good Wife, British actress Archie Panjabi who was born to Indian immigrants broke into the movie scene with a role in East is East which won a BAFTA award for Best Film in 2000. She went on to star in the hugely popular movie Bend in like Beckham and films like A Good Year and A Mighty Heart. Following an alleged feud with costar Julianna Margulies Panjabi recently quit The Good Wife and is now a part of another popular TV show Blindspot.

Jenna Ushkowitz

The Korean-American actress first began in Broadway which proved helpful in landing her first notable role as the lovable Tina Cohen-Chang on Glee. The accolades that this show brought her helped her secure a key role in The Wedding Singer, which was actually one of the first times one of the lead characters was played by an Asian woman.

Harry Shum, Jr.

Another popular Glee actor, Harry's parents are from Hong Kong and China although he was born in Costa Rica. The actor, singer and dancer is known for his roles in Stomp the Yard, You Got Served, Step Up 2: The Streets, and Step Up 3D.

Shay Mitchell

Not many people know that Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell is half Filipino.The actress first got her start on Degrassi: The Next Generation, but her role as Emily Fields in PLL has made her a world wide phenomenon. Apart from this actress also starred alongside Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts in Mother's Day.

Kunal Nayyar

This British Indian actor is most noted for her role as the somewhat tongue tied astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali on popular television show The Big Bang Theory. Apart from this he also voiced Gupta in Ice Age: Continental Drift and the recent Trolls, Kunal also went on to make his big screen debut with Dr Cabbie which was a Salman Khan production and hopes to continue his association with Bollywood. He is also the author of Yes, My Accent is Real.

Dev Patel

After making his debut with the award winning Slumdog Millionaire, Dev Patel who made his first screen appearance with Skins, has since been a part of many other notable films and shows like The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and Newsroom. His most recent film is Lions which also stars Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara and David Wenham and is set to hit the big screens on November 25.

Janel Parrish

Half-Chinese American actress Janel is most popular for her role as Mona Vanderwaal on Pretty Little Liars, but the star also made her debut in Bratz: The Movie. She also competed and took home third place on the 19th season of Dancing with the Stars

Aziz Ansari

American actor and comedian Aziz Ansari is most populkar for his roles in Parks and Recreation and the Netflix show Master of None. In fact, Ansari went on to win his first Emmy this year for

Freida Pinto

Another actress who broke onto the scene in a big way with The Slumdog Millionaire, Freida Pinto then went on to star in films like You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger directed by Woody Allen, Rise of the Planet of Apes and Desert Dancer.

Mindy Kaling

This funny actress first began in theatre before she was picked up as a writer-performer for The Office in 2004. Her popular comedy drama The Mindy Kaling project debuted in 2012 and has since become a riot among fans. She has also written a memoir Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me and Why Not Me?

A group of swimmers braved the sting of extremely salty waters to cross the Dead Sea from Jordan to Israel on Tuesday, a seven-hour challenge that organisers described as a first.
