The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has been running in Goa for the past seven days, attracting thousands of film enthusiasts, students, media professionals, and movie lovers from around the world. Goa has become a centre for celebrating cinema, and this year’s festival is bigger and better than ever. Delegates and visitors have shared their experiences with The Goan, highlighting what makes this edition so special.
Visitors Share Their Unique Experiences
Tombine Singh, an entrepreneur from Mizoram, described Goa as a “paradise” and praised IFFI for its charm. Having attended film festivals in Mumbai and Delhi, Singh finds Goa’s peaceful setting uniquely enriching. “It’s been a fantastic eight days enjoying films, food, culture, and people,” he shared.
Ramesh Iyer, a Chennai-based writer and IFFI regular for 10 years, noted how the festival has expanded. He arrived early this year to explore Goa and finish a new story. “That’s the magic of Goa,” he remarked, commending IFFI for connecting filmmakers and cinephiles globally.
Mansi Kakkar, a cinematographer and drama actor from Gujarat, highlighted the festival’s scale and diversity. “This year is bigger and better, showcasing India’s cinematic beauty,” she said, appreciating the activities, performances, and food stalls that cater to everyone.
First-Time and Local Perspectives
First-time visitor Russel Dian from London, in Goa on holiday, decided to attend IFFI after hearing about it from friends. He was captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and blend of Goa’s beauty with cinematic diversity. “It’s not just about films; it’s about connecting with people,” Dian shared, praising the storytelling in regional films.
Shenaaz Khan, a media student from Mumbai, attended as part of a college project. She highlighted the festival’s masterclasses and interactive sessions as invaluable learning experiences. “This year offers more than just films; it’s hands-on knowledge for students like me,” she said.
Local resident Samantha Rodrigues from Margao, an IFFI attendee for three years, expressed her excitement about seeing stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. She also appreciated the lively atmosphere, with food stalls and gaming zones enhancing the festival’s charm. “Panjim looks magical, beautifully decorated like it’s Diwali,” Rodrigues said, hoping the festival expands further across Goa.
