Sur Jahan, earlier known as Sufi Sutra is all set to return for it's seventh edition and it's third in Goa. The World Peace Music Festival which celebrates cultural plurality will begin on February 8 at Kala Academy, Panaji with performances by Tarak Khyapa, Baul of Bengal and Virelai (Denmark) on the first day.The three days event will also see performances from BraAgas (Czech Republic), East West Local, Ellika Solo Rafael (Sweden), Otava Yo (Russia), Ale Moller Quartet (Sweden) and Punjab Qawaali. Apart from this the groups will also have workshops in the morning where they will introduce their own music and interact with other musicians and audience.
Sur Jagan which has been conceptualised by banglanatak dot com in 2011 aims at creating a platform for cultural exchance and dialogue, to create awareness and understanding of culture and its diversity. The festival creates opportunities for collaboration among the groups and artists leading to an integration of cultures. The motto is 'music for all and music for peace'. Since it's inception, the festival has witnessed a participation from 21 countries and 12 Indian states.
