Goan Bharatanatyam artist Dr Pooja Talauliker performed at the two-day Dubai International Nrityakalakeli Festival 2018 (DICDF) in Dubai recently. Organised by Naadam India, a team consisting of renowned artists Joy Krishnan and Vineeta Srinandan in association with Kalalaya School of Fine Arts (Dubai) the festival was presided by many celebrities. Among them were actor Padma Shree Suresh Gopi, legendary Kuchipudi artist Anupama Mohan, cinematographer Shashilal Nair, renowned Kuchipudi danseuse and actress Rachana Narayanakutty, scholar and guru Dr Ratheesh Babu and Padmabhushan P Dhananjayan Master and Padmabhushan Dhananjayan.
Dr Pooja started her performance with the traditional Vinayaka Kautuam, in praise of Lord Ganesh and followed with a Anjaneya Keerthanam, in praise of Sankat Mochan Hanuman; a choreography of Padmabhushan Dr Kanak Rele. Dr Pooja has undergone rigorous training in Abhinaya under Dr Rele.
“I have been learning Bharatanatyam since the age of eight years under the tutelage of Guru Krishnakumari from Chennai and resumed my journey a decade ago under the guidance of Shri Gaurav Vyas, alumni from Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai. She is currently persuing her diploma in Nrutyashastra from Nalanda Dance Research Centre, Mumbai which is founded by Dr Kanak Rele. Dr Pooja was awarded the title Kalabhooshan by Padmabhushan Dhananjayan.
