Robin Williams

When all hell broke lose in New York City's American Museum of Natural History, the late Robin Williams came to the rescue when he played the wax figure of President Theodore Rossevelt that came alive at night to help out night guard Larry Daley ( Ben Stiller) in the 2006 film "Night at the Museum" and its 2009 sequel "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian." He also played Dwight D. Eisenhower in “Lee Daniels’ The Butler.”

Josh Brolin

Actor Josh Brolin was given the lead role of George W. Bush in the 2008 “W” which is an autobiographical film based on the life and presidency of the former controversial president. The film delves into his wild and carefree days in college, his military service, his governorship of Texas and role in the oil business, his 2000 candidacy for president, his first turbulent four years, and his 2004 re-election campaign. Although he finally accepted the role, Brolin admitted that he was initially insulted on being offered the role but was taken in by the script. The film also starred Colin Hanks, Ellen Burstyn, and Elizabeth Banks. And then again in 2012, Brolin again appeared as Bush on an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Bill Murray

The 2012 film "Hyde Park on Hudson" stars Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Set shortly before World War II, the movie centers mostly on the president's love affair with Margaret Suckley, his distant cousin and is based on Suckley’s private journals and diaries, discovered after her death.

The 1939 visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Roosevelt's country estate, Hyde Park also finds a space in the film.

Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe was cast as John F. Kennedy for the made-for-TV film, “Killing Kennedy,” from National Geographic. The movie focuses on Lee Harvey Oswald, who shot and killed President Kennedy in 1963 and is based on the 2012 non-fiction book of the same title by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. The film also starred Ginnifer Goodwin as the beloved former first lady, Jackie Kennedy, and Michelle Trachtenberg as Marina Oswald. It went on to be nominated for quite a ew awards including the Emmy Awards in 2014.

Alan Cumming

In 2005’s “Reefer Madness: The Musical Movie,” Cumming played a few different roles including Franklin Delano Roosevelt, our nation’s 32nd president. The film also stars Kristen Bell and Neve Campbell. Though the performance is certainly over-the-top, it blends perfectly with the satirical, tongue-in-cheek tone of the film, itself an adaptation of the classic 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film.

Tony Goldwyn

Although his role isn't based after a real like president, Tony Goldwyn sure makes for a formidable US President Fitzgerald in the Shonda Rhimes TV show Scandal which also stars Kerry Washington whose character of Olivia Pope is partially based on former George H.W. Bush administration press aide Judy Smith, who serves as a co-executive producer on the show.
