The good kind of ‘chaos’
S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics organised the most anticipated college event in the state, ‘K-OSS’ recently, at the Taleigao Community Hall and the Campal Ground. The college festival was inaugurated by Mrs. Pallavi Dempo, Trustee, Dempo Charities Trust in the presence of Principal Radhika Nayak, faculty members and students.
The Winners of the K-OSS 2016 St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa lifted the K-OSS 2016 trophy and won a cash prize of Rs.50,000. 1st Runner up MES College, Vasco won a trophy and cash prize of Rs.30,000 followed by 2nd Runner up Institute of Hotel Management(IHM), Porvorim won a trophy and cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
The coveted trophies were handed to the winning colleges by FC Goa players. This edition of K-OSS coincided with the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics.
This year K-OSS had taken up the theme ‘Street Life’, which witnessed an additional flavour of the classic DesiTadka. Along the lines of the theme, ‘K-OSS’ have featured a unique design in terms of décor and organisation of events which has been tailored to portray the theme at its best. An array of unique and economic ideas was put together to bring out the best of talents in the participants through events taking place over three days at the Campal and Taleigao Venue.

One large colossal festival
The Department of Computer Applications at Don Bosco College organized their annual IT Fest “ a state level intercollegiate event for BCA and BSc (Comp Sc) students on February 12-13. Ten teams from various colleges of Goa participated in the event. Jervis Pereira, Director, Goa IT Incubation Center was the chief guest for the inaugural function where he spoke about the importance and the need of IT resources and needs in Goa.
The title sponsor was TIME, Panaji (Triumphant Institute of Management Education ) and co-sponsor was Browntape Technologies. There were fifteen events which included stressItOut, verbal Duel, XQuizIT, Showcase yourself, Colossus Times, Treasure IT, Wealth out of e-Waste, Code warz, Web Crawler, Crack the code, Mouse Master, Snapshot, Filmy, DJ War, Fix IT Felix and also few Gaming events.
Teams from St Xaviers College, DMs College, Saraswat College, Fr Agnel Pilar college, MES college, GVMs college, Rosary college, Damodar College, Govt College Khandola have participated and the Overall Championship was bagged by Rosary College BCA team. The Runners Up were St Xaviers BSc (Comp Sc) team. The main student event organizers are Mr Nicholus Oliver and Mr Sahil Narvekar accompanied by other volunteers.

MES wins at Cosmocrat
The BBA Department of Don Bosco College celebrated COSMOCRAT 3.0, where young minds think globally, their intercollegiate BBA event. The event was attended by seven colleges, namely, Rosary, Dempo, Saraswat, MES, DMC, Xaviers and Damodar college.
The chief guest for the event was Kedar Dhume, managing director of two companies- Advertising Associates and Media Promotions Pvt Ltd. He spoke on the challenges as an entrepreneur today and how he took to journalism
A wide variety of events were held such as a Business Quiz, a Business Plan, Best Manager, Sell it to Win, Five and Dime . The winners for the Business Plan were Rosary College followed by Damodar college, while for Business Quiz it was Dempo followed by Saraswat College. Sell It To Win was won by MES college followed by St Xaviers, Mapusa. Fine and Dime was won by MES followed by Dempo College while Best Manager was won by Rosary Colleg,e followed by Damodar College. The overall winners of Cosmocrat 3.0 was MES college.
The event helped the students from different colleges to meet and interact with one another and also brought out the best in the students as they took part in various events requiring imagination, creativity and knowledge.

Music, food and fun at GIM
The Goa Institute of Management (GIM organized ‘Inception 2016’. The event kicked off with Pitch Perfect, a solo singing competition, followed by group dance performance. The evening began with GIM’s own students displaying their musical talents on stage. In the Pitch Perfect solo singing competition, Abhishek Sharma was declared the winner and won the cash prize of Rs. 2000 while Nishad Matonkar received the first runner up position and a cash prize of Rs. 1000. The most awaiting competition of the night Battle of the Bands was won by ‘Within Ceres’ who won a cash prize of Rs 20000. The first runner up position was grabbed by ‘War Within’ who received a cash prize of Rs. 10000.
Inception 2016 witnessed a stand-up comedy act for the second year running. Chuck Gopal aka Deepak Gopalakrishnan, was back with his rib-tickling humour on B-Schools, politics and a host of other topics. The headlining band for Inception 2016, Akshar from Hyderabad took centre-stage with their Indie-Rock music which included rendition of some of the classics in Indian music. To add to the ambiance of the musical event, the students at GIM also set up a food court offering a variety of eats and drinks.
