In the times we live in, skipping a meal is a lesser crime than missing an opportunity for a good selfie. If you are passing by or have decided to spend a few hours in Panaji, the state capital and perhaps one of the most beautiful cities in India, we have tried to risk our necks and jot down some of the places which would make terrific backdrops for selfies.
First up, there's the Panaji church, which has been the object of many a fascinated men and women who found it absolutely necessary to grab a quick photo of the imposing structure in the backdrop. The centuries-old church is one of the most popular monuments in the city and not without reason. You see it and your hand moves towards the camera app on your smart phone.
You don't find this sight everywhere in the country. Offshore casinos bobbing about in the Mandovi river make Goa unique destination in some ways. At night, the offshore casino vessels light up like clusters of jewels which make them extremely selfie worthy.
There are few statues in India which are as stunning as that of Abade Faria, a Goan priest of the yester-centuries whose stature is so great that he is part of European fables. The hypnotherapist and a man far ahead of his time is captured by the sculptor with his hands outstretched, as he is about to hypnotize a woman patient. Against a cloudy sky and the setting sun, it's stunning.
Right alongside the Abade Faria statue is the Adil Shah Palace, which served as the summer residence of the Adil Shah of Bijapur, when he ruled over Goa until the early 16th ceuntury. Located by the Mandovi river, the summer palace is largely made of wood and is a stunning site.
Thousands of tourists flock to the Dona Paula jetty which overlooks a stunningly beautiful bay. Many of these thousands head there for one reason. A selfie-itchy finger. You gotta head there too if you have one.
