Swastik in association with Kala Academy is organising a classical music concert 'Pratidhwani' for the fifth consecutive year in memory of Late Francis Rogrigues on February 28 at Black Box, Kala Academy.
Born in Pednem, Francis Rodrigues used to sing Indian classical music and Marathi devotional songs (bhaktigeet). He performed in Goa and Maharashtra and created his own identity but unfortunately passed away at a young age of 33.
In his memory, ‘Swastik’ has been organizing this Indian classical concert for the past four years and only Goan artists are allowed to perform at the concert. On this occasion, Francis’ mother will be felicitated.
The concert will be inaugurated by Minister for Forest & Environment Rajendra Arlekar and will begin at 9 am with a tabla (solo) by Sanket Khalap followed by a classical vocal performance by Pallavi Patil. Rajendra Naik will also present a classical vocal recital. The first session will conclude with the performance by Pt. Dinkar Panshikar.
The second session will include a Santoor recital by Naresh Madgaonkar, a vocal performance by Samradni Shelar Aeer and a classical vocal recital by Dr. Pravin Gaonkar who will be accompanied by Sangeet Mishra on Sarangi.
The accompanists for the concert are Dattaraj Mhalashi, Dayanand Kandolkar, Subhash Phatarpekar, Premanand Amonkar, Dr. Subodh Kansar, Amar Mopkar, Dilip Gadekar, Satish Madgaonkar, Pandurang Gawas, Raya Korgaonkar and Dayesh Kosambe. The program will be compered by Govind Bhagat and is open to all music lovers.
