It’s now a fortnight since MP Luizinhbab Faleiro, who was elected to Parliament on the TMC banner, had quit the Rajya Sabha seat. The seasoned campaigner, however, hasn’t yet severed ties with the Mamata Didi-led party till date, more so after he had announced on the day of his resignation that it’s just a matter to time before he parts ways with the TMC. Ask the two-time former Congress Chief Minister on the delay in resigning from the TMC and apt comes a reply that he is still consulting party leaders and workers who had all joined the party with him. Wait and watch what’s up Luizinhbab’s sleeves?
Ajgaonkar sets eyes back on his home constituency Pernem
One may find BJP leader Babu Ajgaonkar on a routine evening walk along the Pajifond-Margao road. Sources, however, say the ex-Dy CM, who was shunted to Margao by the saffron brigade to take on Diggu in the 2022 Assembly election, has set his eyes back on his home constituency Pernem. Sources in the know say Babu is no stranger in Pernem having won many an election from the reserved constituency over the last two decades. Don’t be surprise to hear from Babu’s close aides saying people from Pernem are in close touch with the former Deputy Chief Minister. You know why.
Rivals within Congress question holding protest at Farmagudi
Even as the protest organised by the Goa Congress during Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Goa last Sunday has become a talking point in political circles, rival camps are believed to have drawn attention of the Party High Command over the episode. The camp opposed to GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar is believed to have questioned the logic of holding the protest at Farmagudi knowing well the police will never allow such a protest close to the Union Home Minister’s meeting place. The rival camp, on the other hand, is believed to have questioned the presence of ex-PCC chief Girishbab Chodankar’s presence at the protest at the Ponda bus stand. Interesting, isn’t it?
Eye on polls, Girish scouting for workers in Digambar’s fiefdom
Ex-GPCC chief Girishbab Chodankar is not new to Margao constituency, having unsuccessfully contested against Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu in the 2002 Assembly election. With the Congress struggling to find the right candidate to head the Margao Congress block and to fill the void left behind by the defection of Diggu and his team, Girishbab is believed to have made his presence felt in Margao. He along with party leaders is believed to have taken stock of the situation and is scouting for the workers to revive the party in Diggu’s fiefdom. Rivals may say Girishbab has set his eyes on Margao in 2027, but supporters say the ex-PCC chief is bracing up to lay his claim on the South Goa Lok Sabha ticket. Wait and watch.
Surprising! Churchill predicts BJP to win both LS seats
Varca strongman Bab Churchill’s stand on throwing his hat in the 2024 Lok Sabha election ring makes reading interesting. On one hand, the former two-time MP says he hasn’t yet decided on contesting the 2024 LS polls. In the same breath, however, Churchillbab has predicted that both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa will go to the BJP. On this count, the former PWD Minister may have to answer a question “ whether he would still contest the poll from South Goa when he is certain that the BJP would pocket both the LS seats, including the South Goa seat.
