Cong treading cautious path on CLP post

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | JULY 23, 2022, 12:28 AM IST

The Congress leadership, sources say, is grappling with another contentious issue – how to go about appointing the leader of the Congress Legislature party (CLP). Sources say the party is treading a cautious path since a section of the party leadership seemed insisting the party should maintain the delicate communal balance while filling up the vacant post. Aware that poachers are on the prowl, who have not given up hopes of luring party MLAs into the saffron brigade, Congress leaders have indeed called for a cautious approach on the CLP post. Any questions?

What’s next on Vijai’s political agenda?

What’s next, Vijaibab Sardesai, is a question doing the rounds in political circles as curtains came down on the Assembly session. The Goa Forward chief was at his very best during the fortnight-long session. He stole the limelight on a host of issues, taking the government head on. Political observers are trying to figure out what’s next on Vijaibab’s political agenda – whether his regional outfit will chart out an independent course or team up with the Congress and other like-minded parties against the saffron brigade.

All eyes on Kamat post-Assembly session

With curtains finally coming down on the curtailed Assembly polls, all eyes are back on Diggu – how he goes about his political career. With plans to cobble up the two-third MLAs to break away from the Congress coming a cropper, at least for the moment, the seven-time Margao MLA is indeed under the scanner of Madgavkars. After Congress chief Sonia Gandhi removed him as a permanent member of the Congress Working Committee, his close aides say that it’s just a matter of time that Baba will unveil his future course of action. Any questions?

Colva PI’s transfer to Margao raises eyebrows

Hazard a guess how come the Colva police station had no full-fledged station in-charge, when the government had only recently posted Police Inspector Tulsidas Naik at the police station. Many eyebrows have been raised along Salcete coastal belt, which comes under the Colva police station jurisdiction over PI Tulsidas Naik’s decision to proceed on leave. Cuncolim Police Station in-charge, PI Tukaram Chawan is presently holding additional charge of Colva police station to fill up the void. Many questions, however, remain unanswered over Tulsidas Naik’s decision over proceeding on leave and his sudden transfer to the Margao police station on Friday.

Murmu’s victory echoes at MMC meeting

NDA candidate Droupadi Murmu’s election as the next President of India had its echo at the Margao Municipal Council’s meeting on Friday. While BJP-backed councillors Milagrinabai Gomes and Camilobab Barretto went about distributing sweets and chocolates inside the meeting hall, Congress MLA Diggu’s close aide was on his feet to table a congratulatory resolution on Murmu’s election. For a moment, City Fathers were taken aback by surprise when a Congress-backed City Father took the initiative to table the congratulatory resolution on Murmu’s election. Any questions?
