Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy came, addressed the Goy Rakhonn Yatra meeting at Cuncolim on Sunday, and returned to Telangana. But his remarks that the people of Goa need a Congress government in 2027, whether or not Congress leaders want it, have stirred a hornet’s nest in political circles. There is a growing sentiment that while the people of Goa may be ready to support an anti-BJP front, they remain uncertain whether the Opposition parties, including the Congress, will unite to keep the BJP at bay. Reddy may have returned to Telangana, but his comments are expected to remain a topic of debate in local political circles for some time to come. Any questions?
Altone drops a hint, but keeps Reddy’s advice under wraps
Guess what advice Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has given Congress MLA and working president Altonbab D’Costa to ensure the party’s return to power in Goa? Well, Altonbab was repeatedly heard saying at Cuncolim that Reddy had offered him a piece of advice which, if implemented, could pave the way for a Congress comeback in 2027. What exactly was Reddy’s advice to Altonbab and the Congress? And will the party implement it ahead of the coming Assembly elections? Wait and watch!
Pramod’s Delhi remark fuels talk of Digambar’s return as CM
Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant was quick to clarify that his remarks about being ready to take up any party assignment in Delhi had been taken out of context by the media. That, however, did little to silence the rumour mill among supporters of PWD Minister Digambarbab Kamat, who believe their Baba could return to the Chief Minister’s kodel after nearly two decades. Interestingly, the Margao MLA had himself said in the recent past that he was not interested in the Chief Minister’s post, having already occupied it for five years during the Congress regime. Yet, Digambarbab’s supporters remain firmly convinced that their dear Baba could return to the kodel sooner rather than later. Wishful thinking, or is there more to it? Any questions?
Congress’ Goy Rakhonn Yatra in Velim: Who called the shots?
When the Congress’ Goy Rakhonn Yatra rolled into Velim last week, Congress leader Saviobab D’Silva and members of the Velim block committee reportedly insisted that the leaders follow the programme drawn up by the committee. They are believed to have questioned the party leadership over why the yatra vehicle was stationed near St Sebastian Chapel when Congress workers and cadres had assembled near the party office. The vehicle eventually arrived near the block committee office. However, party leaders Girishbab, Yuribab and Altonbab, along with former MLA Benjaminbab, began the yatra from the chapel before proceeding to the block office. So, whose programme was the party following after all? Any questions?
Alliance: Vijai hints at positive news, but keeps suspense alive
With indications emanating from the Goemkar Ghor, the Goa Forward Party is all set to resume talks with the Congress party how to go about the upcoming Assembly election. None other than the Goa Forward chief told the media that the party would come out with positive news around Dussehra. Vijaibab, however, seemed to have kept his cards close to his chest. It’s not yet clear what exactly does he want from the Congress – a continuation of alliance with the principal Opposition party or a merger of the regional party. Wait and watch.
