It was a week when the saffron brigade descended in full strength at Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai’s residence to offer condolences over the demise of his father Dr Jaivant Sardesai. Right from CM Pramodbab Sawant to party chief Sadanandbab Tanavade down to Ministers, BJP MLAs and party leaders, they all came to pay respects to Dr Jaivant. Leaders and workers from other political parties too were seen at the Davondem bandh, but the saffron brigade’s presence was felt in a big way. Observers recalled when Dr Jaivant celebrated his 90th birthday a couple of years ago, BJP leaders had all come at Sardesai’s residence to partake in the celebrations, before the two sides parted ways after Vijaibab and his two ministerial colleagues were shown the door in 2019. Any questions?
CM’s Delhi visit only brings up question of Cabinet reshuffle
It is a sheer coincidence that whenever CM Pramodbab Sawant returns from Delhi after calling on party national leaders, he has to contend with this oft-repeated question –whether there’s any Cabinet reshuffle in the offing, with focus on the induction of the Congress turncoats in his cabinet. It was no different when the CM returned home from the national capital after a meeting with Home Minister Amitbab Shah earlier this week. In Margao too, close aides of Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu, too were anxiously trying to figure out whether there’s any good news in store for their “Baba” after months of waiting. Wait and watch.
Only Digambar can know better political outcome of beef threat
What’s Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu’s take on a threat issued by Bajrang Dal leader to stop beef in Margao? Well, the Bajrang Dal leader had issued the threat in the communally sensitive Rumdamol Housing Board after a day of violence. Nothing much has been heard from the mainstream politicos and the law enforcing agencies over the beef threat. Observers, however, say none other than the Margao BJP MLA knows for sure how the threat could have political ramifications for him personally given the support he enjoys amongst the city’s minority Muslim community, spread across Moti Dongor to Azad Nagar and other parts of the city. Wait and watch.
No-trust against Cuncolim civic chief moved by ruling group
The no-confidence motion tabled against Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson makes reading interesting. Take note, the no-confidence motion against Chairperson Prof Laxmanbab Naik has been moved by the ruling Congress-backed city fathers aligned to Opposition Leader Yuribab Alemao. Sources say the father-son duo of Joaquim and Yuri Alemao had visited Laxmanbab in a bid to convince him to step down from office. Cuncolkars have been left to wonder whether Laxmanbab had declined to quit since he had reservations over the choice of his successor. Wait and watch as the opposition BJP in the Cuncolim civic body led by CM Pramodbab Sawant’s brother-in-law Videshbab Desai is watching the unfolding developments in the Congress camp.
