Swearing-in & beyond: All eyes on Goa AAP core team’s visit to Delhi

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | SEPTEMBER 21, 2024, 11:41 PM IST

Ahead of Atishi Marlena’s swearing-in ceremony as Delhi Chief Minister, Aam Aadmi Party’s core committee members from Goa headed to Delhi during the weekend. The core panel, sources said, have other agenda in the national capital, apart from attending the swearing-in ceremony. Sources say AAP leaders are expected to hold discussions on matters pertaining to Goa with party national leadership, including Arvind Kejriwal. Political observers are trying to figure out what’s lining up on the agenda of the Goa core team, especially on issues centred on party’s expansion plans in the State and alliances with like-minded political parties. Wait and watch.

Amid internal opposition, Patkar gears up to strengthen Congress

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amitbab Patkar is the cynosure of all eyes, including friends and foes both within the Congress and outside. Days after a group of opponents made a bid to dislodge him from office, Amitbab seemed on the move, gearing up to face the challenge from his detractors. The last few days, if not weeks, saw Amitbab on an aggressive mode, making his presence felt across the State. That he announced that the Congress will strengthen its base across the State is a message intended for the party rank and file opposed to any alliances in the coming polls. Wait and watch.

From brief to action: Aleixo executes task with precision at Cutbona jetty

Saxtti’s lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira seemed satisfied over the turnaround taking place at the Cutbona fishing jetty. More than the improvement in the situation at Cutbona, Aleixobab should be happy that he has executed the task given by Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant with perfection. Many say the CM had made his presence felt at the Cutbona fishing jetty just for a few minutes, but it was Aleixobab who took the CM’s brief to its logical conclusion at the jetty. A ‘no’ nonsense Aleixobab literally used the carrot and stick policy to get things done. Any reward in store for the heavyweight? Wait and watch.

Speculation grows around Kamat’s potential return to the Cabinet

Going by the confidence levels amongst his ardent supporters, many say it’s just a matter of time before Diggu joins the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet. Even senior party leaders in private admit that Diggu’s induction in the much-awaited Cabinet may come as and when the Chief Minister goes for a reshuffle. No doubt, Diggu had earned the distinction of completing a full five-year term as Congress Chief Minister between 2007-12. He, however, has been out of power for the last 12 long years. It’s now exactly two years since Diggu along with seven other MLAs had quit the Congress to join the BJP. Wait and watch.

Peaceful Julus procession in Kamat’s fiefdom as son extends greetings

This may sound reading interesting. The Julus procession taken out by members of the Muslim community earlier this week to commemorate Prophet Mohammed’s birth anniversary passed off peacefully. Hindu outfits had raised objections for the processions at several places, including Collem and Cuncolim on a host of grounds, including traffic congestion. In Diggu’s fiefdom, Margao, however, one did not come across any objections to the Julus procession. Unlike last year, Diggu was conspicuous by his absence at the Julus. Son Yogiraj Kamat, however, descended on the ground to extend wishes to the Muslim community on Prophet Mohammad’s birthday. Any questions?
