Will GPCC chief overcome rebel group challenge?

Post-visit by AICC observer in-charge of Goa, Manickam Tagore, Congress workers have a simple question to ask “ Will Amitbab Patkar stay put as the GPCC chief or will opponents succeed in dislodging him from the post ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls? Sources close to Amitbab say the GPCC chief has emerged much stronger after Tagore’s visit. Sources say the Amit group had camped in the national capital just around the time when Tagore was to descend in Goa. On the other hand, the anti-Amit camp says wait and watch for further developments to unfold in the State Congress.

Questions raised into quality of work on sewerage project 

Who is to be blamed for Margao’s sewage woes? PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral bore the brunt again as sewage raised its stink in the commercial capital once again. As rain water infiltration into the underground sewage line reigned supreme for a week now, the execution of the underground sewerage project came into sharp question centered on quality. Interestingly, work on the line was tendered and executed long before Cabralbab took over the PWD reigns. In fact, Cabralbab seems struggling to get the work completed at certain stretches dragging on for years now. Any questions?

Kamat’s name crops up as probable BJP candidate for S Goa LS ticket

Has the BJP shortlisted the probable candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat? Former BJP MP Narendrabhai Sawaikar’s presence at many a party programme may dish out an impression that he is a strong contender for the ticket. Party sources, however, do not rule out the possibility of exploring other options as well. BJP whip stares at 2 councillors for skipping Cuncolim chief’s election

Red-faced over the absence of the two party-backed Cuncolim Municipal councillors for the crucial election for the Cuncolim civic chief, the BJP leadership is under the scanner of party workers. For, a section of the party workers from Cuncolim believe the leadership should step in to find out the reasons behind the absence of the two women councillors for the election held earlier this week. BJP-backed councillor Vishalbab Desai too has called for action against the two women councillors for abstaining from the crucial election. Has Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s brother-in-law, Cuncolim Municipal councillor, Videshbab Desai, briefed the party leadership on the embarrassment caused to the party in Cuncolim? Protocol again to fore, Damu sits in audience at Vande Bharat launch

Protocol came back to the fore again, this time at the launch of the Vande Bharat Express train from the Margao railway station. Margao’s First Citizen Damubab Shirodkar was found seated in the audience while the dais was packed with VVIPs including Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, his Ministerial colleagues, besides MLAs. Protocol had come to the fore when Margao First Citizen was forced to take the back seat at the Goa Revolution Day programme at the Lohia Maidan, Margao when VIPs occupied the front seats. Guess the politics behind the seamen’s pension scheme, which was introduced by former Chief Minister late Manoharbhai Parrikar after his return to power in 2012?
