Congress observer Dinesh Gundu Rao’s attempt to downplay Diggu’s repeated absence at party programmes and attributing it to his disappointment over the party failure to return to power, seemed to hardly any takers amongst the close aides of the Margao MLA. On the contrary, Diggu’s aides have a question or two for Dinesh Rao “ would Diggu have headed the government if the party had come to power? Indeed, a moot question after the party ignored the Margao MLA for the CLP post.
Filipe Nery down, but not out
Where’s Congress-turned-BJP-turned-NCP leader Filipe Nerybab? After a miserable defeat in the 2022 Assembly polls when he finished fifth on the ladder, friends and foes, however, have been trying to find out what Filipe Nerybab is now up to. For, while many defeated candidates have shut down shutters, Filipe Nerybab has not stopped giving doles to the needy at his Sirlim residence. Political observers recalled that Filipe Nerybab had kept his office open after his first defeat in Velim in 2012, before he bounced back five years later in 2017. Any questions?
Cruz begins innings with people’s blessings
Hazard a guess how many of the newly-elected MLAs have gone back to the voters to express their gratitude after their election. Well, low-profile and unassuming first time Aam Aadmi Party Velim MLA Cruzbab Silva has hit the ground, trying to reach out to as many voters as possible just to thank them for his victory. In the bargain, Cruzbab has not lost sight of the issues plaguing Velim, but he apparently believes in starting his innings with blessings of his people. Indeed an innings on a different note.
Barbosa’s votes at polls surprises all
Just hazard a guess how come the BJP candidate for the Curtorim seat, Anthony Barbosa polled 2,385 votes in the Assembly polls. This question is being debated in Curtorim political circles and outside and comes against the backdrop of the fact that the saffron brigade backed Independent Reginaldbab Lourenco. That Barbosa ended his campaign with 2,385 votes has come as a surprise for many when the BJP Curtorim leadership had thrown their lot behind Reginaldbab. Interesting, isn’t it?
BJP uses b’day platform to woo Saxttikars
It was a week when Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant and the saffron brigade descended in Saxttidom in strength, not just to partake in the birthday celebrations of party’s lone MLA Ulhasbab Tuenkar, but to send a message that the party will not ignore Saxttikars in the scheme of things. Pramodbab with Sadanandbab Tanavade, Rohanbab Khaunte, Ravibab Naik, Subhashbab Faldesai in tow joined Ulhasbab in the birthday celebrations. When the stakes are down in the Congress camp, the saffron brigade seemed bracing up for a push in the minority stronghold.
