MARGAO
A group of affiliated clubs of the Goa Football Association (GFA) lashed out at the President of the GFA Churchill Alemao for promoting family raj in football. Addressing a press conference in the city, Anthony Levino Pereira, President of Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao attacked the President for nominating his daughter to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) despite there being capable members within the GFA Executive Committee. He also said that the GFA President has continued to defy the GFA Constitution and is illegally clinging on to his chair even though his term ended on July 31."Despite Article 22 of the GFA Constitution mandating that the elections be held every four years at the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM), the President has failed to conduct elections conveniently excluding this item from the Agenda of the General Body held on the 31st July 2022."
"We the GFA members demand that the GFA elections be held in the next 60 days as per GFA Statutes. We bring to the notice of the media, the statement of the acting General Secretary of AIFF that the AIFF was banned by FIFA due to its failure to hold the elections on schedule. He further advised all the Member Associations affiliated to the AIFF to hold their elections in a timely manner. If the date for elections is not announced immediately, we apprehend that Mr Alemao will continue as the GFA President and take illegal decisions to the detriment of Goan Football and the GFA,'' stated the clubs.
