MARGAO: The International Women’s Day saw over 20 former International and National volleyball players gather early morning at the Ponda Municipal Volleyball Court, organised by the Association of College Directors of Physical Education of Goa (Women’s Cell - ACDOPEG) in collaboration with the GVMs GGPR College of Commerce, Ponda.
A women’s volleyball festival match was played on the occasion with some of the leading players from Goa participating in it.
The theme of the festival was ‘Women Have Right To Play’ and the international theme for this year in celebration of the International Women’s Day - Break The Bias was brought out extremely well by the guest Dr Poorva Sahakari.
The list of players who were felicitated for their contribution for Indian women’s volleyball included Bina Wagle (Naik), Christie Dias, Samiksha Karmalkar, Piedade Pinheiro, Santana Pinheiro e Colaco, Maria Fernandes, Fermina Cardozo, Lavina Rodrigues, Milagrina Mascarenhas, Lumen Botelho, Justin Rodrigues, Monica Almeida, Smitha Naik, Viliana Soares, Conception Pereira, Carmelina Gracias Pereira, Synora Rodrigues, Mary Soares, Liria Mendonca, Sandra Silveira, Vera Pires and Jennifer Fernandes.
