Dimitrios Diamantakoos, the winner of the 2023/24 Indian Super League (ISL) Golden Boot, has announced his decision to leave Kerala Blasters after two successful years with the club.
Diamantakos shared his heartfelt farewell via Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support and love from the fans and the team.
The Greek forward ended the season tied with Odisha FC striker Roy Krishna, with both players scoring 13 goals. However, Diamantakos clinched the Golden Boot due to having played fewer games than Krishna.
"Unfortunately, these two amazing years full of exciting adventures and experiences in Kerala have come to an end. I do not have words to express myself for the moments we have cherished together as a team. You made me feel more welcomed than ever, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. The continuous support and love that I have received since day one from our fans has been incredible. Thank you @kbfc_manjappada, I will always remember you and I wish you the best of luck!!,” read Diamantakos's farewell message.
Diamantakos joined Kerala Blasters in 2022 from Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split for a transfer fee of Rs 2 crore. During the 2023/24 season, he played 17 games, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists. Despite his impressive performance, Kerala Blasters finished 5th in the points table and will undoubtedly miss their star striker.
Rumours suggest that Diamantakos might remain in the ISL, with Mumbai City and East Bengal reportedly interested in securing the services of the 31-year-old striker. Neither Diamantakos nor the club has officially commented on his next move, leaving fans eagerly awaiting news on his future in the league.
